The workshop makes part of the Art for Social Change 2003 training module and is designed for participants, supervisors and coordinators from the present phase of the programme.

BIO

Thomas Schwinger was born in 1948 in Innsbruck, Austria. He graduated from the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz, where he obtained a PhD in psychology in 1976 and then followed trainings in Group Psychotherapy, Group Dynamics, Gestalt Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Client-centered Therapy, Aggression Training and Systemic Therapy. In 1977 he started his training in Psychodrama at the Moreno Institute, Ueberlingen and graduated as a psychodrama-therapist (DFP/DAGG) in 1985 and as a supervisor (DGSv) in 1999. In 1993 he received his habilitation for Psychology at the Westfaelische Wilhelms University – Muenster, Germany.

In the period 1991 – 1996, Thomas Schwinger worked as Scientific Director of the Moreno Institute, Ueberlingen. Since 1992 he gives supervision to individuals and teams in various institutional settings. In 1996 he was appointed Professor in Social Therapy at the University of Applied Sciences (Evangelische Fachhochschule), Darmstadt, Germany.

PROGRAMME OF THE WORKSHOP

1. Summary:

Two important approaches in developmental psychology are the basis of this workshop: Piaget’s genetic epistemology and modern psychoanalytical developmental psychology

The main points will be:

  • sensumotoric development of intelligence
  • and the development of the self in interpersonal relationships

These points will be traced forward to daily psychosocial work and:

  • Movement and sensorial awaress as a supportive tool for cognitive development
  • personal relationship with the client as a supportive tool for self-development

A part of the seminar will be a presentation of the respective theoretical inputs, the major part will be role-playing about actual psychosocial work of the participants.
