The Museum and its Visitors: Making Exhibits that Communicate
A seminar for museum professionals organized in cooperation with the Fund for Arts & Culture in Central and Eastern Europe and the American Information Centre in Sofia

For a third consecutive year Sofia will host a seminar for museum professionals organized in cooperation with the Fund for Arts and Culture in Central & Eastern Europe. These seminars gather a core group of around 40 professionals from around Bulgaria with the aim to provide exchange of information and ideas which foster the development of new exhibitions in Bulgarian museums.
In 2002 the seminar will cover the following topics:
- Defining our Audiences: How our visitors inform our Museums
- Audience Research: Practical tools to use
- Evaluating exhibits: What works, what doesn’t, and why!
- Learning in Museums
- Visual Communication: Design, graphics and images
- Verbal Communication: Text and labels
The forth day of the seminar will be dedicated to presentations by the participants of what has happened in their museums during the year and what they future plans are.
The seminar will be led by Robert Workman, deputy director of Carter Museum in Texas and Elisa Phelps, director of collections of Witte Museum in San Antonio
