Workshop CoolDebating - June 21, 10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m., Goethe-Institut, Sofia

The workshop CoolDebating focuses on the configuration of public debates. Considering the goals, the subject, the guests and the audience, what kind of debating format would work out best? How can complicated issues be opened up to a braoder audience? How can undisclosed political interests of the audience be articulated and reflected on by the experts? What is the role of the moderator? How to combine old and new media What other factors are involved in organising a succesful debate?

Workshop CoolGaming - June 21, 3.00 – 6.00 p.m., Goethe-Institut, Sofia

The best way to understand processes in society and politics is to be part of them. At least for a short time. Simulation games are roleplays in which the participants play the role of different actors in society. They have a problem to solve with specific goals and specific means. But every one has a hidden agenda. After the game, thoughts and behaviour of all players are evaluated by the group of participants. Questions on structure, culture and meaning of the public sphere are raised and potential improvements are discussed. Simulation games are both serious and fun and involve the participants in an intense way.

Workshop leader is Jorrit de Jong, Foundation “Coolpolitics”, Àmsterdam
