The Red House Weekly Radio Show on Radio France International - Bulgaria (103,6 FM)

Hosts of the programme are Dessy Gavrilova and Tzvetelina Iossifova.

The Red House radio programme is on RFI every Thursday from 16.00 to 17.00. Its first issue was on November 15, 2001. The usual format of the programme consists of three blocks – one focusing on a political-social theme, one on a cultural topic (both in conversations with guests in the studio), and an info block. In the two “discussion blocks” we have guests in the studio, in the info block we advise on the interesting events of the coming week (be it a cultural event, a conference, a new book…).

In this issue of the programme we will be speaking about the book of Loic Wacquant ?Prisons of Poverty". The book was recently published in Bulgarian and presented by The Red House on June 16, when a debate on the main issues discussed in the book was held.

April 29, 2004 - "The Red House"
Within the frames of the weekly radio programme Irina Nedeva will talk with Juliana Metodieva, editor-in-chief, “Objective” review of the Bulgarian Helsinki Commitee about the the recent public lecture of Zdenek Zboril, PhD on “The Civil Society in Integrating Europe – the Czech Case” at the Ceske Centrum.
The lecture focused the dynamics of the relationships between the State and the non-governmental organizations in the perspective of the EU membership.

Within the frames of the weekly radio programme we will meet with Margarita Ilieva from the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee.
Problems related to discrimination and the Law for defense against discrimination and its application in Bulgaria will be discussed.

April 15, 2004 - “The Red House”
Within the frames of the weekly radio programme we will meet with Antoaneta Nenkova from the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee and Mina Naniova from the For the Children Foundation. Problems of the children and young people leaving in social institutions, alternative practices and models for the social reformation and the establishment of Civil Partnership in Support of Children in Institutions will be discussed.

Within the frames of the weekly radio programme we will meet with Martina Staneva (DJ) and talk about her recent participation at the Federico Fusi master class Radioartejump: from Broadcasting to “Narrowcasting” as a sub-programme of the international conference Almost Real between February 29 and March 11, 2004 in Utrecht, The Nederlands. The international conference Almost Real is dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of the European Cultural Foundation and was attended by more than 150 professionals from all over the world (artists, researchers, producers, activists, and students) employed in art-making within the social context

Within the frames of the weekly radio programme we will meet with the psychiatrist David Ieroham, MD on occasion of the Red House debate "Male in Transition" (March 8, 2004) - we will talk about how the contemporary Bulgarian man goes through transition, are there any and if, what are the typically male psychological problems due to the status loss, the equality with women, the unemployment etc.

March 4, 2004 - “The Red House”
Within the frames of the weekly radio programme we will meet with the antropologist Margarita Karamihova, author of the book "American Dream. A First Generation Immigrants' Guide.
The book is an ethnological research among the latest wave of Bulgarian immigrants in Illinois, Missouri, and Florida.

February 26, 2004 - “The Red House”
Within the frames of the weekly radio programme we will meet with the sociologist Dejan Dejanov and will talk about the research on socilalism, whether it hepls us to understand the present. The reason for his participation is the latest issue of the Sociological Problems magazine dedicated on the "Historical Sociology of Socialism" edited by MIla Mineva and Dejan Dejanov


- November 15, 2001: Tzvetelina Iossifova and Dessy Gavrilova (The Red House – Centre for Culture and Debate directors) about the new programme: who are we, what is The Red House – Centre for Culture and Debate, what the programme will look like. Iva Roudnikova, (a young journalist from “Kapital” weekly) on the presidential elections; on what do young people chose when they chose between the two candidates; on the motivation of young people to vote; on the importance of exercising your vote. - November 22, 2001: Irina Nedeva (journalist and The Red House political programmes manager) on “The King’s Factor” – a debate on recent political changes in Bulgaria which was held in De Balie, Amsterdam, on November 8, 2001, and was organised by The Red House. Dean Damjanovsky and Assia Ivanova (young theatre directors working independently) on the premiere performance of the independent theatre company “Slug Theatre” entitled “My Father, who acted through culinary and other periods”. - December 6, 2001: TAKA company (Dessislava Morozova, Daniela Tzvetkova and Irina Karakehayova) on their TAKA 39 project: working with children with psychological difficulties through the visual arts tools. Alek Popov, writer, on the Vejdi Rashidov case and the equality of all in front of the law. (Vejdi Rashidov, a sculptor has been arrested and held in jail for 72 hours for beating a policeman. “Intellectuals” demonstrated against the arrest).
