I Am But a Dream
Presentation of the collection of texts and drawings by Dafina
Georgieva (Ronya)
“Everyone should have a heart like this and then they
will neither starve, nor suffer from cold, nor anything…”
– writes little Dafina Georgieva, or Ronya, as she likes to
sign. But the heart is already gone…that heart, which longed
to warm and nurture us with its love. The words and the drawings
remain – unforgettable traces (signs) in the infinity of our
memory. The book “I Am But a Dream” gathers the best of one
talent, which would have undoubtedly developed in many aspects.
The essays by Valery Petrov, Julia Ognianova, Leda Mileva
and Peter Zmiicharov as well as the introduction by Maria
Gareva are added to the edition of “Egmont Bulgaria”. This
original creative biography contains poems, short stories
and essays, diaries and e-mails as well as a lot of drawings.
At times the child’s imagination rushes towards the shining
sun, at others – towards the dreams and the cherished desires
of people. She draws untiringly everyday events from school,
memories from journeys around the world, thoughts about books
and movies. They are all here – mum and dad, school friends
and e-mail friends, the favourite Harry Potter, the terrific
singers and superb movie stars. What is for sure, however,
is that Dafina is tireless, she refuses to give way to despair
and gloomy thoughts and in the end she succeeds in carrying
us, readers, away in her vigorous running. Where to? It goes
without saying – to happiness.
