Street Theatre Group is a long-term project of group of artists for working with young people from the streets.

Our street theatre is the adventure of the clown who is challenged to feel and reflect, to be a certain mirror of the city’s incidents and inhabitants. The clown is curious, always acts on the instant, he is sincere, but manifestly overdone in his reactions. The life in the streets is seen with his help brighter, clearer, strained and aggressive. In fact, as it is

Within the frames of Gravity-free Art, the street will settle at The Red House.

Saborna Street
exhibition by Dessislava Morozova

About Saborna Street project as a spatial event having occupied the place between the hat and the shed.

The beginning is a paper body which has to be unfolded and folded to a paper sculpture. There are drawings of umbrellas, as well as texts, describing ordinary things and happenings seen during walks with an umbrella. The book has been distributed among 800 persons with the invitation to send back their own drawings, photos, texts with which to participate in the Saborna Street exhibition.

The exhibition, which is an important part from the project, is in two parts.
The first part entitled “When does the umbrella become a line, a ‘gutter’ along which water drains away?” is an installation consisted of four linear elements organizing a concrete walking line for a viewer in the first hall. In them, under glass layers, drawings, photos and texts have been exposed – all of them sent by the receivers of the Saborna Street book.

The second part entitled “How/When do umbrellas comprise a shed?” is a bookbindery placed in the neighbouring hall. There any viewer can make his/her own book with the drawings, texts and photos sent as “answers” by the receivers of the Saborna Street book.

Birds and Moths
video art by Slavi Kokalov (2005, 40 min.)

Experimental videos with 40 min. entire length united under the title “Birds and moths” – naturevives (as opposed to the classical naturemortes)

1. Birds, mini DV, 2005, 10 min.
An exciting story about a flock of amiable ducks, caught by the camcorder in moments of reflection and expectation of the afternoon snack.
By the author of “Little Flies”. Distributed by S.V.T.S.

2. Moths, mini DV, 2005, 7 min.
I cannot tell anything more than the fact that in the summer of 2004 I was gazing a lamp longer than permitted to a normal and sedate person.
I had a company.
Thank you, Ludwig!
Slavi Kokalov’s answer to the question “What is this?” posed to him during an interrogation that took place in 2005

3. Where Is My Train?, mini DV, 2004, 23 min.
Tokyo, December 14, 2002. The Shundjuko railway station. I am trying to reach my platform and my train. The endless subterranean tunnels are deserted. People start to come into view. They become more and more numerous. I am in no hurry with anything. I can take a walk. But I don’t know how much time I have. I am a stranger at this place. Nobody is waiting for me. I start to feel nervous. That makes me go faster. Where to? A train is approaching. I got on it with the others. Who are they? Is this their train? Do they feel nervous like me? Nervousness already transformed into fear… Do they ask themselves the question that I am still posing to myself: “Where is my train?”

Svetoslav Kokalov is an artist with more than 20-year experience as a set designer. He designs dozens of spectacles mainly of classical plays on the most prestigious Bulgarian stages. In the recent years, he prioritizes his lecturer’s work at the National Art Academy in Sofia. He directs traditional stage projects as well as student performances integrating live performance, kinetic vision and sound. He has been experimenting with digital video art since 2002.

What Is This Here?
photo exhibition by Yovo Panchev and Julia Kadiyska
The exhibition is part of Debuts on the Border project supported by the Swiss Cultural Programme in Bulgaria.

The idea of the What Is This Here runs the risk to remain in the background at the expense of the commentary value of the project on its own boundary type or approach. The reproductions are in a gradation one toward the other and in comparison with their edited copies. The two directions for development – of the photo image character and of its interaction with the manipulated visual material - arouse text associations. Following the attempt of modern art to be democratic and non-formal, we apply the same themes in three different ways. We hope that the viewer will find his/her corresponding object in reading of objects and watching the text.

Julia Kadiyska (photos, graphic effects). Graduated in painting from the Sofia Art School. Studied film animation at the new Bulgarian University and at the same time she was working for a German company. “I used to take photos as a hobby before. However, amatory photography could not satisfy my wish for work in that field. That is why, after I was offered a job in a newspaper, now I take pictures both of the hottest daily issues and as a hobby.”

Yovo Panchev (text, photos). Graduated in Cultural Studies in Montreal. At present is occupied with creation of texts, artistic psycho-social practices, assistant stage decoration and “home-made” modern art for private consumption. “I observe the text as an image and the image as a text.”

Hexagons
dance for video with Svetlin Velchev, Teodor Vodenicharov, Katerina Petrova and Violeta Vitanova (2005, 45 min.)
The event is part of Debuts on the Border project supported by the Swiss Cultural Programme in Bulgaria.

The video dance is a kind of a modern performance, which does not possess the familiar contact with the audience but on the other way, provokes different emotions and creates strong impressions in the viewer using various effects and means. The idea of Hexagons is to present observation of others as an occupation, which is about to become a profession. The concept, based on improvisation, entirely follows the principal rules of the “reality” games.

The film was shot intentionally with a consumer video camcorder because the quality predisposes the viewers to empathy towards something, which is authentic here and now. And which creates an impression of a captured moment, something that the film itself is.

Svetlin Velchev (b. 1985) – National Dance School graduate. Currently a member of Amfiodromo – a dance theatre, Cyprus.

Teodor Vodenicharov (b. 1984) - National Dance School graduate. Currently works in the troupe of the Sofia National Opera and Ballet.

Katerina Petrova (b. 1985) - National Dance School graduate. Currently works in the troupe of the Sofia National Opera and Ballet.

Violeta Vitanova (b. 1984) - National Dance School graduate. Currently a member of the Marchepied Troupe, Lausanne.

Electrofon
concert of Bluba Lu for string quartet and radio receiver

Circulating on long waves with random scale aberrations: background exposure of electroacoustic session of technological sounds, string instruments and acrobatic improvisation right at 10 p.m.

Never the same – Bluba Lu, Dimitar Paskalev and Konstantin Katzarski at the base, surrounded by Alexander Yanev, two violas, a violin, a cello and a radioreceiver. This musical project is from the series of performances in a search for new sound and space dimensions, such as "MoogaMood", "Behind The Curtain", "Re:Verb", "Earth07", "Ambient Festival" and others.

Bluba Lu doesn’t mean anything and this fact frees a lot of space for new messages…through sound, noise, rhythm, silence, performance, and recording. The project was initiated by Dimitar Paskalev and Konstantin Katzarski. In the recording sessions and concerts a lot of musicians, fans and friends join. Bluba Lu looks after its own figurative means in the field of ambient-urbanistic sound, jazz and launge music. The idea of this concert emerged a year ago during a recording session and it is inspired by the search of the two musicians for more minimalistic and acoustic live sound. Bluba Lu have three self published albums and participation in the Earth 007 project compiled by LTJ Bukem. For Bluba Lu music is…
