British Council Bulgaria presents:

DUB Music Workshops

Globally renowned dub producer Mad Professor along with singer Aisha will present two days of workshops around dub music examining the history of the music, the social and cultural background that led to its development, key techniques, lyric writing and performance. The workshops are part of the YARTZ project in partnership with ZionLionz Soundsystem & Global Vision Circle and will also be linked to the Switched ON! UK-BG remix session.

For those who don’t know him, Mad Professor is a legendary DJ and producer who has remixed tracks by Sade, the Orb, the KLF, the Beastie Boys, Jamiroquai, Rancid, Depeche Mode, and Perry Farrell, among others. His best-known project, however and the one that truly established his credentials was 1995's No Protection, a completely reimagined version of trip-hop collective Massive Attack's second album, Protection. His music studio – Ariwa, has produced over 200 albums among which are some of the finest British reggae productions of the era.

Aisha, who will be leading the MC/singers workshop, has performed conscientious lyrics in the Roots Daughters series, in which she featured alongside the revitalized Fabian, Kofi and Sandra Cross and was also sampled by The Orb. London's Royal Festival Hall, the London Telegraph termed her "the closest we have to a female Bob Marley."

On 4th February there will be a performance in Sofia (4th km. club) where some of the workshop works will be presented and Mad Prof&Aisha will perform for the Bulgarian audience for the first time. Tickets available at eventim.bg and ticketstream.bg.
