Cuba Libre Civic Assosiation presents
Why Do We Want to Talk about Cuba?
The idea of Cuba Libre Civic Association
is to inform Bulgarian society of events and processes in
contemporary Cuba and to encourage a new dialogue between
the people of Bulgaria and Cuba based on the values of freedom.
This year the program will be held in three main parts:
• marathon of Cuban documentary and feature films from the
last 5 years never shown in public like the famous Fernando
Perez’s SUITE HABANA, recognized as the best Cuban film in
the past 10 years and granted Goya 2004 for best Spanish foreign
picture
• premiere of Pedro Juan Gutierrez’s “Dirty Havana Trilogy”
firstly being banned in Cuba but eventually turned out to
be a world-known bestseller right after publishing at the
late 90’s. Now the book opens the Janet-45 publish series
“New Cuban Literature”
• “Hable con cuba” – an open conversation about Cuba where
everyone is invited to come and share what they remember,
know and think of Cuba and to give their wishes to Cuban people
as well as to hear the memories and knowledge of others.
The Cuba Libre Days take place for the third time after January
2006, Sofia and November 2006, Plovdiv.
